TaskSurfer [MAC]

Two Dogs Software’s TaskSurfer is a solid Mac productivity software app. The app features many of the tools you’ll need to create and manage all of your to-do items and lists, plus it places an emphasis on cloud syncing to keep track of the tasks online. Just be aware that this software isn't as intuitive as some, so you'll probably want to thumb through the quick start guide before you attempt to use the application.

Ease of Use:

Unlike some of the other Mac productivity software apps we used, TaskSurfer wasn't as easy to figure out right out of the box so we had to read through the quick start guide before we tested the app. That’s not saying it’s difficult to use, because once we read the quick start, it was smooth sailing.

Schedule & Management Tools:

As with similar Mac productivity software apps, you can type up all your tasks in the Inbox, then start assigning a priority, tags, contexts and more to each task. TaskSurfer Mac productivity software will move and organize the tasks to folders such as Today, Location or specific contexts, which we’ll explain below.

Quick task entry allows you to use a keyboard command to pull up the window and add in your task without leaving another app your're in, such as your email or a web browser. You just need to make sure TaskSurfer is open, though it can be hidden or minimized.

Contexts can be used to assign what type of task it is, such as those for work, home, the car (to run errands), phone (return calls) and so on. You can use folders to collect tasks into projects, such as a folder with tasks to research and buy a used car online. Smart folders will help you schedule those specific projects for certain days.

TaskSurfer Mac productivity software takes advantage of Mac OS X Snow Leopard’s Core Location feature, which will help the app to figure out where you are then display the tasks related to the Location Context. For example, if you’re at home, it will display only those tasks to do there; same with work, in the car and so on.

Sync Options:

Syncing of TaskSurfer Mac productivity software is fairly easy via Toodledo, a free website where your tasks will reside, which will sync your to-do lists online so you can check it from any browser on any computer, whether it’s a Mac or Windows PC.

Once you’ve signed up for a free account, go into TaskSurfer’s preferences and click on “Sync.” Put in your Toodledo info, checkmark “synchronize tasks to Toodledo” and set how often you’d like it to sync. From there, it will automatically sync from TaskSurfer.
There are forthcoming iPhone/iPod Touch and iPad versions of TaskSurfer Mac productivity software coming out, but we could see our tasks via the iOS Safari browser and Toodledo.
